Overcoming C4I Challenges in Multi-national, Multi-agency Operations

This year’s User Forum will explore the mission critical issues facing commanders in multi-national, multi-agency operations. With coalition operations becoming commonplace in military affairs, it is appropriate to examine the challenges of coalition command & control and the importance of interoperability to support decision making in contemporary operations.

Multiple organisations, multiple systems, multiple sources of information – the challenge is the management of this potential information overload.  The cry is no longer ‘give me information’ but ‘give me the tools to process the information’. The OODA loop is at the heart of decision making, the commanders ability to Observe is well addressed, our aim is to help with the Orient & Decide so that they can Act more effectively. Bringing together information into a single, unified operational picture and the ability to share relevant ‘actionable information’ to the wider user community is critical. This year's User Forum will focus on the operational and technological challenges facing commanders in identifying the information that is key to mission success.
