Making use of defence technologies, concepts and mission-critical solutions
Systematic has developed a special tool for use in journey planning, invoicing, etc. by the 2,000 drivers employed by Danske Fragtmænd, a Danish haulier. This mobile solution is based on the same technology at the heart of Systematic’s SitaWare Maritime Boarding product. This is an integrated solution designed for boarding operations when combating piracy, people trafficking and terrorism. In this civlian case, the drivers take the hand-held units out to their customers. They have an online link to 'headquarters', partly to receive instructions, partly to send customer data back to 'base'.
The next generation of this solution will also feature integration with SitaWare Track Server, which will give 'headquarters' a here-and-now overview of the positions of all the company's, trucks using only a standard web browser. This works in exactly the same way that the naval commanders can keep an eye on all vessels in surrounding waters, or air traffic controllers can keep tabs on aircraft traffic.
This is a good example of the way in which technologies, concepts and mission-critical solutions that Systematic has developed for the defence sector also have considerable commercial potential in the civilian sphere.
