Optimising orders

The Order & Result module for Systematic Columna enables clinicians to make electronic orders for analyses (tasks) from laboratories.

Filling out orders made quick and easy

Columna automatically inserts mandatory information about the patient’s data and information about the physician. This means many of the mandatory fields on the order form are normally filled out in advance. At the same time, the individual departments featured in the Order & Result module compile multiple analyses in so-called order profiles. This saves time and makes it easy to order relevant analyses for a specific working diagnosis.

By noting the results from previous tests, healthcare professionals can also re-order corresponding tests more quickly.

Quality assurance for orders

The Order & Result module helps healthcare professionals fill out orders correctly, using a validation procedure that checks whether the necessary information has been entered, and that the regulations governing the selected order have been complied with.

Different service providers/laboratories may require specific information regarding an order, and there may be differences in the information needed for the different tasks. The Order & Result module is therefore dynamically structured, allowing it to meet the various service providers’ information needs. This also means that healthcare professionals ordering a test can be prompted for further information. This improves the overall quality of the ordering process, at the same time as helping speed up results.

Supported by clinical pathways

Special requirements for order contents can be integrated into Columna’s clinical pathways and standard activities, which define best practice and are intended to ensure a consistent and appropriate way of processing information.
