Supporting administration of medication
The Medication module for Systematic Columna is an important aid for nursing staff when they administer a patient’s medication.
Administration overview
The administration overview in the Medication module shows nursing staff which medication individual patients should have and when it should be administered. It also shows the medication that has been administered previously.
The administration overview clearly shows whether there are specific guidelines or instructions associated with an individual prescription. It also makes it clear whether the patient’s medication is self-administered, or whether the patient’s own medication is just supplied.
Medication overview makes planning safer
The Medication module contains a medication list that shows which patients must have their medication within specific administration times during the day. This list can also be filtered to show – for example – which patients receive their medication intravenously. This helps simplifying the nursing staff’s planning.
Medication lists can also be printed out – for patient use, for example.
Supports administration of complex prescription types
Nursing staff document the administration of complex prescriptions via the administration overview. In addition to the simpler administration of regular medicine, this overview also supports the administration of more complex prescription types, such as continual infusion. Nursing staff can document everything from the mixture to the suspension method, changes of infusion rate and change of infusion bags.
Flexible administration
The administration overview can be displayed with columns per hour or per minute, depending on what individual nurses consider most appropriate.
If the medication is given at another time or in another dosage than planned, the nurse can register the deviation. This will then be clearly shown on the administration overview.
If there is a need to change administration times after the physician has prescribed the medication, nursing staff are able to do that. The system checks that the daily dosage limits are adhered to.
