Increasing patient safety
The Medication module for Systematic Columna contributes to greater patient safety in hospitals.
Less multiple data entry reduces errors
The Medication module means it is only necessary to register a patient’s medication once. This means errors that might otherwise occur in conjunction with manually transferring information between physicians’ records, nurses’ records and medication charts can be avoided.
Warnings about avoiding specific drugs
Columna helps physicians to make the right decisions when prescribing medication. The integrated validation tool can be set to warn physicians if they select a drug that should not be prescribed for patients with a specific condition.
Ensures full control of drugs and doses
The Medication module can be integrated with a robot drug dispenser. After having received the prescription from the physician electronically, this robot then packages the prescribed medication in the correct dosages. When the nurse administers the medication, he or she scans both the pack with a PDA on which the Medication module is installed, and the patient’s armband. Columna then checks that the patient, the drug, the dose, the time and the method of administration are correct, ensuring the best possible levels of safety in connection with administering medication.
