The Columna modelling tool permits ongoing adaptation of the structure of the records with regard to current practice for the content and structure of patient records.

The customer can determine the degree of structure, such as either strict structure or freetext fields. Most importantly, the records are sufficiently structured for the requirements involved in the structure of the output. The Columna modelling tool ensures that the customer can make changes to current practice without needing to contact the supplier. This ensures maximum flexibility for clients, and independence from the supplier.

Customers can use the structure of patient records to make sure that data intended for clinical databases is gathered in the correct structure directly from the records, thus doing away with any need to re-enter such information. 

• Clinical documentation (archetypes) can be added, edited and installed by the customer
• Clinical documentation can be specific to individual departments 
• Classifications are included. The coding system used by the clinical content, such as ICD10, can be entered into the system.

The way data elements can be presented in the patient records can be adapted to meet different requirements.

The Columna modelling tool has been designed to enable multiple users to work with modelling at the same time. The modelling process is organised into multiple domains to provide clear conditions for such work.
