Based on open architecture
Designed to integrate with other health informatics applications
The Columna platform is based on an open systems architecture. This makes it possible for customers to invite other suppliers to develop and deliver sub-applications that can be integrated into Columna. This in turn means customers are free to choose between different suppliers, instead of being locked into just using one particular source.
Solutions developed by other suppliers are already integrated into Columna. The Speechmax digital dictation application was supplied by Max Manus. The fully integrated booking module was developed by Capgemini.
One of the most advanced ’generic’ systems
One of the world’s leading experts on open electronic healthcare systems, the Australian doctor and professor Sam Heard, described Columna thus: ’Without doubt, Systematic Columna is one of the most advanced ‘generic’ systems on the market to date’.
Ideal for use with open standards
Sam Heard is CEO of Ocean Informatics and on the board of OpenEHR, the international non-profit organisation working for improved healthcare IT, including making electronic patient records internally compatible. For many years, he has been the driving force in the global debate about the benefits of open systems architecture and international standards in the healthcare sector. Sam Heard characterises Columna as especially suitable for use with open standards.
