Customise the patient records

Flexible records ensure quality and efficiency

When asked which feature is most important in clinical information systems, clinical staff often rank the ability to provide clear overviews as the most important factor. An overview of the patient’s data is a prerequisite for making the right decisions in patient care.

The healthcare sector in particular is characterised by substantial quantities of widely differing kinds of information from many different sources. This is why the primary job of a clinical information system is to sort, filter and present all of this information in a manner that provides a clear overview for clinical staff. Using the Columna clinical information system from Systematic, users are able to customise patient records to meet their particular needs.

Get an overview

Using the ‘Overview’ screen in the Patient Record module, different staff groups in the individual departments and sections can customise precisely the general overview of the patient’s record that they need. ‘Overview’ compiles the most central and up-to-date information in the patient’s records, enabling doctors, nurses, secretaries, therapists and other groups of users to quickly assess the patient’s condition and current treatment, based on the information that the individual group deems essential.

The ‘Overview’ screen is formed from a range of different building blocks consisting of centralised information from the patient’s records, including diagnoses, clinical documentation, notes, medication, booking appointments, blood test results and other test data.

Navigate easily between ‘Overview’ and details

At the same time, users can quickly and easily navigate back and forth between ‘Overview’ and details. Nurses can, for example, use the ‘Overview’ screen to see which measurements they have to carry out, and can easily navigate to the summary of results where the findings are documented. Similarly, doctors can see which operations are scheduled for a patient and with a single click get access to documenting the carrying out of each operation.

The ‘Overview’ can be shown side by side with other summary views available in the Columna clinical information system.
