This course introduces the outline concepts of data modelling and the practical aspects of creating data models and mappings using IRIS Information Mapping

Delegates will be introduced to the functions of the IMT Developer and Runtime Modules and their applications.

  • Introduction to data modelling
  • Overview of the features of the IMT Developer Module
  • Creation of data models and mappings using IMT
  • Exercises to create MTF and database models
  • Overview of the features of the IMT Runtime Module
  • Use of the graphical 'drag and drop' functionality
  • Use of the graphical 'Wizards' to define common mapping tasks
  • Exercises to define and create mappings for automatic generation of MTFs and updating of relational databases
  • IMT configuration and administration
  • Integration into IRIS Forms and IRIS Organisational Messaging
  • Course summary, questions, critique

Skills Learned

On completion of the course the delegate will have:

  • Gained an overview of the features and functionality of IMT
  • An awareness of the uses and applications of IMT
  • Gained practical 'hands on' experience of developing mappings using the graphical tools and automatic source code generation in IMT of data models and mappings using IMT

Course Prerequisites

IT literacy with basic keyboard skills; comprehensive knowledge of MTFs; a good understanding of relational databases and knowledge of an Object Oriented Programming Language, e.g. Java or C# .NET
