This course introduces the SitaWare C4I Framework together with related technologies and standards

Course Overview

The range of user interface and GIS functions are presented in detail through class lecture and practical exercises. Students are equipped to use SitaWare to exchange information, develop and view plans and orders to provide situation awareness.

Course Content 

  • Introduction to the Multilateral Interoperability Programme (MIP), the Command and Control Information Exchange Data Model (C2IEDM) and related information exchange mechanisms
  • Introduction to relevant standards including ADatP-3 and APP-6
  • Installation, configuration and administration
  • Populating, backing-up and archiving the C2IEDM
  • Configuration and use of the GIS display and analysis tools
  • Creating and managing battlefield objects etc, tactical graphics, status, capability, communications, weather and assessment information
  • Creating and managing Plans and Orders
  • Working with Pocket SitaWare
  • Using SitaWare MIP Replication to manage replication
  • Documentation and Online Help
  • Course summary, questions, critique

Skills Learned

Upon completion of the course, delegates will be able to:

  • Install and configure the SitaWare software
  • Load, display and use mapping in the GIS
  • Create, manage and display Situation Awareness information
  • Create, manage and display Order of Battle information
  • Create, manage and display Plans and Orders
  • Enable and disable established replication contracts

Course prerequisites

  • IT literacy with basic keyboard skills
  • Basic awareness of military organisation and operations
