New IRIS software versions now available

Systematic has released important new versions of the company’s IRIS Forms and IRIS Information Mapping software.

8 April 2010

Time and technology move inexorably onwards, and standards change and develop. To reflect this, we provide Systematic customers with ongoing updates to all our software products.

The latest version updates in the IRIS suite of messaging software are IRIS Forms 3.2 and IRIS Information Mapping 6.1.

The IRIS Forms advantage

IRIS Forms provides electronic forms for automated data entry, enabling a wide range of military organisations and forces to exchange data smoothly and reliably. Operators use these forms to view incoming messages as well as to prepare and send outgoing messages.

IRIS Forms supports messaging that complies with the international ADatP-3, USMTF and OS-OTG standards, as well as a comprehensive range of different national standards.

IRIS Forms enables you to deploy new message definitions without needing new software, making your system more agile and up-to-date. You simply load IRIS Forms with the relevant versions of mission files or XML-MTF schemas to make your messaging system fully interoperable with those your partners use.

Going GOLD – and a VMF plug-in

The new 3.2 version of IRIS Forms adds important new functionalities that include support for Over-The-Horizon Targeting Gold (OS-OTG) 2007 mission files and messages.

Although the rules for OS-OTG 2007 have not changed in the same way as those for ADatP-3 and USMTF, we have made key updates in most of the messages within the baseline standard.

The new 3.2 version of IRIS Forms also supports the Variable Message Format (VMF) Reissue 5 (2002) for connectionless applications, with the help of a special plug-in available as an add-on to IRIS Forms.

Updates to IRIS Information Mapping

IRIS Information Mapping is a software tool that enables messaging systems that follow different standards to exchange information efficiently, bridging the gap between otherwise incompatible data structures.

Such data structures have evolved over considerable periods of time, based on combinations of technical requirements and developments, practical operational experience and changing political and organisational landscapes. Each time a new standard emerges, it is inevitable that it only partially gels with previous standards.

IRIS Information Mapping is the most cost-effective answer to this kind of ongoing interoperability challenges.

Going GOLD – and much more

The new 6.1 version of IRIS Information Mapping adds support for a range of new standards and capabilities, including:

  • MIL-STD-6040B (USMTF 2009) schemas and messages.
  • Over-The-Horizon Targeting Gold (OS-OTG) 2007 mission files and messages.
  • Class import directives (such as “using” statements in C# and “import” statements in Java) for use on classes in information mapping projects.
  • An API for executing mappings that makes it possible to use the IRIS Information Mapping Runtime product without needing to install the IRIS Information Mapping Web Service or Windows Service.
  • With the new 6.1 version of IRIS Information Mapping, you can also now modify the bodies of source code functions in an external source code editor of your choice.
