Systematic’s pervasive presence at CWID and CWIX

Press Release: It’s essential to have a proving ground for new and emerging defence technologies before operational deployment, and CWID and CWIX are the ideal forums.

16 June 2010

For the 5th consecutive year Systematic’s C2 and interoperability products are being used in these important coalition interoperability trials to unify C2 systems from around the world.

Cutting-edge technologies

The role of the Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstrator (CWID) is to showcase information sharing capabilities with a focus on technology discovery, risk reduction and improving interoperability, whilst also identifying crucial operational capability gaps. New technologies are assessed through national and coalition interoperability trials conducted during the month of June.

CWID is a US-led coalition with multiple sites around the world connecting over a shared network. The NATO CWIX (X for exercise) brings together NATO and Partners for Peace nations with a special focus on national C4I systems that are likely to be deployed in NATO-led operations such as Active Endeavour, ISAF and KFOR, or within a NATO Response Force.

Systematic’s global presence

Systematic is participating in CWID and CWIX trials in the US, UK and NATO sites. Systematic’s presence in the US and NATO interoperability trials is to support a number of our customers, these include the armed forces from US, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Norway, Denmark and Italy.

At the UK site Systematic is conducting two trials, one focusing on MIP (Multilateral Interoperability Programme) technologies and the challenge of maintaining interoperability between C2 systems running Block 2 and Block 3 compliant solutions. The other demonstrates the use of web service technologies in providing a ‘one-stop-shop’ for C2 information which is collated from a variety of sources.

At the heart of coalition interoperability

Systematic has a key role to play in these trials in joining information communities together. The UK trial provides a unique opportunity to interoperate with allies such as the US, NATO, France, Germany, Poland, Turkey, Romania, Finland, Sweden and Estonia. Systematic products are facilitating a link-up with several trials to compare and contrast the quality and completeness of their MIP situational awareness picture provided by MIP Block 2 (C2IEDM) and MIP Block 3 (JC3IEDM) systems.

Systematic’s products are at the heart of these trials, with SitaWare Headquarters providing both MIP Block 2 and MIP Block 3 compliant C2 capabilities, the new SitaWare C2 Server presenting an easy to use web service interface to a Common Information Repository and the IRIS suite providing a comprehensive messaging capability.

CWID capabilities at Eurosatory

A major feature at both Eurosatory and CWID is the new SitaWare C2 Server. It provides defence organisations with a rapidly deployable off-the-shelf solution for accessing a Common Operational Picture in high level commands. Based on SOA principles it can easily integrate many different specialist systems and legacy applications. This unified COP can either be viewed in a simple web browser or made available to other applications via an open web services API.

If you wish to see coalition interoperability capabilities in action and are unable to visit any of the CWID sites, then call by the Danish Pavilion at Eurosatory 2010 where Systematic will be showcasing its latest MIP compliant C2 products.
