On 7 January 2010, Systematic hosted a special event that provided an excellent supplement to the Anders Lassen Foundation’s 2009 grants award. In addition to the grant recipients and those accompanying them, the guest list included the board members of the foundation as well as distinguished members of the military community.
A natural obligation to help
The complementary afternoon event was held at the Systematic office in Copenhagen, which is located just a five-minute walk from Amalienborg, the royal palace that is the Danish monarch’s winter residence. It was here that the official presentation of the Anders Lassen Foundation awards took place. They were presented by the Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, the official patron of the foundation.
Jens Mandøe, Senior Domain Adviser at Systematic as well as co-founder and board member of the foundation, explains the idea behind hosting the afternoon event:
- With Systematic’s involvement with defence forces, it seems a natural obligation to support military personnel and their relatives, says Jens, himself a former commanding officer of the Danish Army Jægerkorps special forces unit (1993–1997).
- Formerly, the occasion ‘only’ included the actual awards presentation ceremony at Amalienborg. We (i.e. the board of the Anders Lassen Foundation) felt there was a need for a more fitting way of rounding off the morning ceremony. Last year, Systematic therefore hosted such an event at our Copenhagen office, following the awards ceremony. This idea was very well received by all concerned, leading Systematic to repeat the success this year, adds Jens.
Donation for the second time
Those attending were able to enjoy a delicious lunch followed by coffee while speeches were made in honour of the four recipients of the foundation grants for 2009. The grant recipients included a lance corporal from the Royal Danish Guard Hussar Regiment, a naval special forces soldier, a patrol from the Danish Army Jægerkorps special forces unit and an army chaplain. Towards the end of the lunch, Systematic took the opportunity to present a cheque as a donation of EUR 3,300 to the Anders Lassen Foundation.
In response to the donation, the chairman of the board for the Anders Lassen Foundation Poul Lynggaard stated:
- First, you open your doors to us and now this. On behalf of the entire board, let me express our most sincere gratitude.
This was in fact the second time that Systematic had made a donation to the Anders Lassen Foundation.
